Axiom Space held a virtual press conference with the Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4) crew while in quarantine, as they prepare to launch on June 10 at 8:22 a.m. ET. During the event, the Ax-4 crew shared insight into their final preparations, mission goals, and outreach activities and research for their mission aboard the space station.
The crew also introduced the Ax-4 zero-g indicator, "Joy," a plush baby swan symbolizing grace and elegance. The zero-g indicator will be used by the crew, shortly after launch, as a physical confirmation that they have transitioned to microgravity.
The Ax-4 crewmembers are Commander Peggy Whitson of the U.S., Pilot Shubhanshu Shukla of India, Mission Specialist Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski of Poland, and Mission Specialist Tibor Kapu of Hungary.
A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will launch the Ax-4 crew aboard a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft to the International Space Station from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The crew will dock to the space station on June 11 at approximately 12:30 p.m. ET.
