Allen Flynt serves on Axiom Space’s executive team as chief officer, mission services, an organization that is responsible for providing customers the full complement of services offered by the company. The responsibility encompasses launch integration for crew and cargo, mission integration and on orbit operations. Flynt leads Axiom Space’s human spaceflight operations as the company prepares for the launch and integration of its privately developed modules to the ISS.
Flynt’s leadership experience within industry and remarkable career at NASA makes him well-suited for his role at Axiom Space. In his industry and government roles, Flynt led and managed a robust human spaceflight mission portfolio, including critical programs such as the International Space Station (ISS), NASA’s Orion spacecraft, and Boeing’s Starliner. Flynt’s tenure at NASA included senior executive roles such as director of mission operations at Johnson Space Center, deputy center director at Ames Research Center, and director of the EVA (extravehicular activity) office. His contributions earned him both the Outstanding Leadership and Exceptional Achievement medals.
Most recently, Flynt served as senior vice president of growth for civil and commercial space at Redwire, playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of space technology. Prior to that, Flynt held the position of vice president and general manager at Collins Aerospace, where he led a strategic growth initiative that nearly doubled the business’ revenue from $250 million to $500 million.
Flynt received a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering from Texas A&M University.
