Dr. Mary Lynne Dittmar

Dr. Mary Lynne Dittmar directs Axiom Space’s work with U.S. state and federal government, acting as a thought leader with executive and legislative branches.  She also leads the company’s external relations team, promoting Axiom Space’s mission to enable continuing human presence in and economic development of low-Earth orbit. In addition, she currently serves as the industry co-chair of the FAA’s Commercial Human Spaceflight Occupant Safety Rulemaking Committee.

Previously, Dr. Dittmar served as the founding president and chief executive officer of the Coalition for Deep Space Exploration, an industry trade group supporting NASA’s programs of record in human exploration and science. Her experience includes service as a member of the National Space Council Users’ Advisory Group, the FAA’s Commercial Space Transportation Advisory Committee (COMSTAC), the executive committee of the Space Studies Board of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, and the senior policy advisor for the International Space Station National Laboratory.  Earlier in her career, she managed the Flight Operations Group and served as chief scientist for commercial payloads on the ISS Program at Boeing.

Currently, Dr. Dittmar serves as the space policy fellow for the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Purdue University’s School of Engineering. She is also a fellow of the American Astronautical Society and National Research Society and an associate fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Dr. Dittmar holds a Ph.D. in human factors from the University of Cincinnati.
